gravity-movie-review-sandra-bullock-suit-2

What a year so far. Some amazing pieces of film have been released so far I have been lucky and seen some pretty good movies so. I have lots left to see before Oscar time but I am making a good dent on the films thus far.

Far and away the best picture of the year so far has been Gravity … It’s simply a brilliant piece of film making. Everything from the acting to the score… Everything is perfection. Other notable films have been 12 years a Slave , Captain Phillips , the Butler, The Great Gatsby , Evil Dead, The Bling Ring, World war z, the Heat , The Conjuring , Identity Thief, Now you see me, Oblivion , Elysium, Prisoners and Don Jon.

Oscar Recap

Oscars Whew what an amazing night, it truly is one of my favorite nights of the year. The montage in the beginning set to “In the Hall of the Mountain King” by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from the Social Network was AMAZING. It clearly lacked some more photos from 127 hours, Winters Bone and Toy Story 3 but still it was a great montage. (If you’re interested in seeing it, it’s up on the oscars.com web site under highlights). If you would like to hear the amazing Music from newly crowned Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross here is the link to the song.

My personal favorite for best score was Inception by Hans Zimmer but I was super excited to see these guys win the score was fantastic.

The Beginning film with Anne and James in Alec Baldwin’s mind was also very funny; the highlight would be the dance of the brown duck. This is also available to see on the Oscars.com web site. Anne looked amazing throughout the whole evening and was really doing a good job of keeping up the flow and mood of the show I felt it moved along quickly and was not bogged down too much. James on the other hand was no prize he was not on top of his form and just relied on his smile, which can get him far just does not make great TV. Over all I liked the telecast but I don’t think they will be asked back next year.

Best Moments
1: Natalie Winning Best Actress, she is absolutely amazing and I have loved her ever since I was like 11. It was great to see her win and her acceptance speech was great as well.

2: God of love winning best short film, the young man who won was a complete joy and super funny.

3: Kirk Douglass was hysterical and really showed that even though he has had a stroke he is still smart and funny.

4: Celine Dion singing, she has an amazing voice and it’s always nice to hear her sing.

5: Christian Bale starting to cry when he was giving his acceptance speech.

Worst Moments

1: Kings Speech winning Best picture, should have been The Social Network or Black Swan

2: Tom Hooper winning best director instead if David Fincher

3: The Gurffalo losing best animated short to “The Lost thing”

4: James Franco

5: even though I loved the actual montage the one in the end was a bit biased towards the king’s speech. Still awesome montage just a bit sided.

Best Dressed
1: Haliee Stienfield – she was super cute and looked so nice, plus it was nice to see someone who is truly just happy to be there.

2: Anne Hathaway -She changed a thousand times but was so beautiful in all her dresses my favorite was the blue and the one with the fringe.

3: Hillary Swank – was super pretty in this feathery dress

4: Jennifer Hudson – looks awesome she lost so much weight and truly looked amazing.

5: Michelle Williams- Looked so pretty is this sparkly dress, I like the sparkles ahahahha

Other pretty ones were Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis , Sandra Bullock , Reese Witherspoon and Hallie Berry.

Worst Dressed
1: Nicole Kidman – what is wrong with her dress? Its weird and I don’t like it at all.

2: Annette Benning – she looks like she is seventy five in that dress its horrible

3: Kathryn Bigelow – were the awards in the arctic?

4: Scarlett Johansen – it’s a giant purple doily

5: Cate Blanchett – I don’t know what was up with her dress but it was way too weird

Well overall it was great year and I can’t wait till next year’s Oscars , my new host idea , Sandra Bullock.

Hereafter

Hereafter
A drama centered on three people who are haunted by mortality in different ways. George (Damon) is a blue-collar American who has a special connection to the afterlife. On the other side of the world, Marie (de France), a French journalist, has a near-death experience that shakes her reality. And when Marcus (Frankie/George McLaren), a London schoolboy, loses the person closest to him, he desperately needs answers. Each on a path in search of the truth, their lives will intersect, forever changed by what they believe might-or must-exist in the hereafter. Written by Warner Bros. Pictures

Hereafter is Clint Eastwoods newest movie, written by Peter Morgan (The Queen , The Last king of Scotland , Frost/ Nixon and the Other Boleyn Girl). The Film Stars Cécile De France, Matt Damon, Jay Mohr , Richard kind , Frankie and George McLaren and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Now I have been the biggest Clint Eastwood fan Since Million Dollar baby and have fallen in love with each of his films. This film is no exception, it starts out with a bang and you slowly meet all your three main characters and see how they are touched by death

SPOILER ALERT …………………………..
Cécile De France plays a French journalist who is in the Thailand or somewhere close, she goes out one morning to buy some presents and a tsunami hits . this is one of the most spectacular scenes in the whole film and I am very excited to watch it again in slow motion once I buy the film . she experiences a near death occurrence including the white light and seeing other people who have died. Matt Damon stars as a ex psychic who has given up talking to the dead because he does not know how to cope . he starts the film with one last job set up for him by his brother . Frankie and George play twin brother who rely on each other for everything because there mother is a alcoholic . One of the boys is killed and the other is complete lost.
Throughout the film these three continually look for answers and reasons as to what lies after you die. The stories intertwine and the characters end up helping each other work through their problems .
I loved this movie I thought it was an amazing movie with some amazing performances including Damon and De France . the film does not give you any answer as to what lies beyond death but I makes you think about what you believe and what you believe will happen after you die.
